ABOUT THE ARTIST

I am a mixed-media artist and community developer with a long, non-linear career rooted in photography and creative local enterprise. I spent more than two decades raising three children and working as a professional photographer and philanthropist in Southeast Asia, deeply immersed in multiple cultures and families. These experiences fed a deep attunement to our collective fragmentation, to the phenomenon of transboundary belonging, to the treasures of family archive and the global glut of imagery. These concepts and experiences characterize my work.

My personal and commissioned fine-art work use existing and found images as raw material, and explore concepts of simultaneity, transience and belonging. My artistic process often involves cutting and fragmenting images and re-constructing them to shift intention.

I founded my commercial photographic practice in Singapore in 1997. Beginning as a portrait photographer for global families, my commissioned work has evolved to now ‘mine’ the raw treasures of clients’ own photo archives to create mixed-media works of installed art that honor the complexity and unique journey of contemporary families. I have won many awards over the years, am certified with the Master Photographer’s Association, U.K., earned a practice-based Master of Fine Arts (MAFA) from LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore, with affiliation to Goldsmiths of London. I have shown widely in group and solo shows in multiple countries, and my works are in private collections throughout Asia, Europe and the US.
